Chehre New Release Date: Producer Anand Pandit Shares An Update On The Amitabh Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi Starrer- EXCLUSIVE
Producer Anand Pandit updates on the release plan for Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Chehre, which was earlier supposed to release on April 9 before the second wave of Covid-19 cases got worse
Rumy Jafry’s next directorial Chehre, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead, was eyeing an April 9 theatrical release this year, but it had to be pushed at the last moment due to rising Covid-19 cases in India. Producer Anand Pandit has many times in the past insisted that they want a theatrical release for the film. However, Anand’s other production, The Big Bull featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Ileana D’Cruz, opened on Disney+ Hotstar in April, and the producer admits that his experience with the medium and platform was really good.
So, one may think that his plans might have changed since there is no set date in sight when one can expect theatre business to reopen. When asked about an update on the development of Chehre, Anand informs, “I am optimistic that things will get better in a few months and we are confident that people will go back to the theatres. We are a little bit adamant because we are confident that people will love this film in theatres and it will be better in a theatre experience. So, we are holding on to a theatrical release and I am sure, we will be releasing this film in the next two-three months.”
Talking about the film, Anand confesses that Chehre is a very special movie for him out of all his films. “It is a beautifully narrated story and people will connect to it even though it is fictitious. Mr Bachchan wanted to make this film for many years, so it is very near to his heart as well. One day he called me saying that he wants to make this film and he wants me as a producer on it. It was a dream come true as nothing can be better than the superstar of the century asking you to be a part of something,” he gushes.
Chehre’s trailer, released in March, created an intrigue amongst the audience and Anand maintains that the final product has emerged exactly as he envisioned it to be. “This is a very well-made film and it will be a very beautiful experience for the audience. It is a very different type of entertainment and the audience will see a glimpse of the old Hindi filmmaking style in it. Mr Bachchan and Emraan have obviously done great work but apart from them, Anuu Kapoor ji, Dhritimaan Chatterjee sir, Raghubir Yadav ji, Rhea Chakraborty, Krystle D Souza and Siddhanth Kapoor have also done a good job along with our director Rumy Jafry,” he asserts.
